Hit Farther. Swing Without Pain. Play Your Best Golf.
NYC's only performance training gym built around the athlete in you
What We Do and Why It Works
-
The gym can make you a better golfer…but only if you're training the right way.
When most golfers think about improving their game, they think about the range, lessons, or a new fitting. The gym is usually an afterthought, or it looks like a bunch of machines and treadmills that have nothing to do with hitting a golf ball.
Here's the thing: the right strength and conditioning program will absolutely make you a better golfer. More distance, better consistency, less pain after a round. But a generic gym program won't get you there. Golf requires rotational strength and mobility, hip power, shoulder stability, and real core strength (not just the kind you get from doing crunches).
Without a program built specifically around you and the demands of golf, you're leaving a lot on the table.
-
At DiSalvo Performance Training, we've spent nearly 15 years developing the exact physical qualities golf demands — rotational power, hip mobility, explosive strength, and core stability — in hockey players, tennis players, and combat sports athletes.
The hip-to-shoulder rotational mechanics that make a great golf swing? We know them well. And now we're bringing that same sports performance methodology to golfers in New York City.
It doesn't hurt that our founder, Mark DiSalvo, CSCS, played his first round over 20 years ago.

We assess before we program. Every time.
A qualified coach won't hand you a generic workout on day one, even if the exercises are technically good for golf. That's not a program built for you, and it's a waste of your time.
Before we write your program, we put you through a full movement assessment. We look at your mobility limitations, strength imbalances, and movement patterns. We ask about your injury history, how often you play, and what's frustrating you most about your game right now.
A common complaint we hear from golfers is that their instructors are asking them to move in ways they simply can't. Our assessment process works around that: we work with the ranges you actually have available, and we build the strength and mobility to get you where you need to go.
From there, the program is built entirely around your gaps. That might look like:
Mobility work for a golfer with limited hip rotation and a restricted backswing
Rotational strength training for someone who generates decent club speed but lacks consistency and control
Posterior chain development for a golfer dealing with chronic lower back pain after rounds
Shoulder health and stability work for someone fighting impingement or soreness through the follow-through

This is for golfers of all levels.
It doesn't matter if you're a weekend player or a competitive amateur. It doesn't matter if you've never set foot in a gym or if you've been lifting for years. We work with golfers of all handicaps and all fitness backgrounds.
In fact, recreational golfers often see the biggest improvements because there's more low-hanging fruit to address. Mobility restrictions, weak stabilizer muscles, movement patterns that have never been trained. We meet you exactly where you are.
The only thing that matters is that you want to get better — on the course and off it.

We believe in two ideas when it comes to training, health, and life:
Those who work hard are rewarded with inspiration and success
That when you "know the way broadly, you will see it in all things."
The famous Mushashi quote can be applied to anything. Learn something in one discipline and you'll see similar patterns in your life. We strive to help you make those connections through training.
