DiSalvo Performance Hour Podcast #8 - Matt Wenning

My most recent podcast with Matt Wenning is now available on all podcast platforms, including the video above on YouTube.

This was a long time coming, as I’ve gotten to know Matt the past few years, after initially meeting via Charles Poliquin in 2017. For those who may not be familiar with Matt: he holds a masters in biomechanics and is a former World Record holder in the Squat and Deadlift. Since his powerlifting career, which saw him at Westside Barbell among other spots, he has gone on to be instrumental in bringing forward strength and conditioning standards in the tactical field, particularly with the US Military and fire departments around the US. He’s also the inventor of one of the best belt squat machines on the market “The Wenning Strength Belt Squat.”

Matt has great perspective on all things related to strength and health, and we get into a lot of simple considerations for athletes and their health. He shares some stories from his past as a young student and top powerlifter, and how he even came to meet Louie Simmons. It also happened to be the first remote podcast we ever had to do, due to the Covid-19 pandemic shutdowns.

Lastly, one thing I haven’t done yet is post to officially announce the launch of my return to podcasting (as of late 2019 actually). The DiSalvo Performance Hour is a podcast designed to bring on guests in the fields coaching, athletics and fitness and figure out what makes them tick, and how they feel they managed to find success.

You can listen via Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and podcast apps everywhere. If you enjoy what you hear, please join our Patreon as a way of supporting future podcasts, or subscribing on your Podcast app and consider leaving a review.
